Materials and Consumables

TermDefinition
ABSRigid engineering thermoplastic common in shells needing precise cutouts and good finish.
PP (polypropylene)Flexible, chemical-resistant thermoplastic common in trays and drawers.
BPA-freeA claim that the product contains no bisphenol A; ABS and PP shells are inherently consistent with it, backed by material documentation.
BPABisphenol A, a substance associated with polycarbonate and epoxy resins.
Carbon filterAn activated carbon pad in the vent path that adsorbs odor; a consumable.
Litter linerA removable bag or film lining the tray or drawer for easier cleaning.
Litter matA floor mat that traps granules tracked out of the box; an accessory category.

Electronics and Certification

TermDefinition
Weight / occupancy sensingLoad sensing that defers cleaning cycles while a cat is on or in the unit.
Entry detectionSensing at the opening that blocks cycles during approach or entry.
Anti-pinch stopMotor current or contact sensing that halts motion on obstruction.
EMCElectromagnetic compatibility; the EU directive framework for electronic emissions and immunity.
LVDThe EU low-voltage directive for electrical safety.
REDThe EU radio equipment directive, applying where wireless features exist.
RoHSThe EU restriction of hazardous substances in electronics.
REACHThe EU chemical safety regulation covering substances in materials.
FCCThe US regulatory framework for electronic emissions, including radios.
UKCAThe United Kingdom conformity marking for Great Britain.
Prop 65California right-to-know law requiring warnings for exposure to listed substances.
UL-style standardVoluntary US safety standards often referenced for appliances in this category.
FirmwareThe software inside the unit; its version is part of the product approval record.

Trade and Logistics

TermDefinition
MOQMinimum order quantity per model, color or component.
RFQRequest for quotation; a structured inquiry that returns costed offers.
FOBFree On Board; price covering goods on board the vessel at the origin port.
Ex-factoryPrice covering goods at the factory gate.
OEM / ODMProduction to the buyer's design, or based on the factory's existing design.
Lead timeTime from order confirmation to delivery of a stage, such as samples or production.
CubeThe volume a shipment occupies; the controlling freight variable for bulky goods.
Flat-pack / nestingShipping designs disassembled or nested to reduce volume.
Landed costTotal delivered cost including freight, insurance, duties, certification amortization and fees.
BOMBill of materials; the itemized component list.
Tech packThe document package defining a product for quotation and production.
